VIETNAM GRAVEL ADVETURE

From the Mekong Delta through the highlands to the coast. A point-to-point cycling trip across southern Vietnam.

Vietnam by bike, in a small group of women.

In the morning you ride a narrow path between coconut groves, and every few kilometres you roll onto a ferry across another arm of the Mekong. A few days later you climb through coffee plantations to a plateau where you'll want a jumper in the evening. At the end you drop from the mountains to the sea, and the last kilometres take you past salt fields, sand dunes and harbours full of round boats.

These are 14 days in three very different landscapes of southern Vietnam: the Mekong Delta, the mountains around Đà Lạt and the coast. Along the way we stop at places that are hard to find on your own: family-run rice paper workshops, a cacao farm, K'Ho and H'mong villages and Cham weavers.

You ride, and we take care of the rest. Your luggage travels by car, the meals in the itinerary are included, and we take the van through busy cities. You don't have to deal with maps, bookings or where to have lunch. You can simply be on the road, at your own pace, with women who came for the same thing.

Route: Saigon → Bến Tre → Cái Bè → Trị An → Cát Tiên → Tà Đùng → Đà Lạt → Ninh Chữ → Mũi Né → Kê Gà → Saigon

The local team

The local team

We run this trip together with a local company from Saigon that has been organising cycling tours across Vietnam for years. They know what's really worth seeing in this part of the country, and they help us make sure you get a real feel for Vietnam. We make sure it's a Lumen Way trip: a small group, your own pace and a good atmosphere.

✔A local female guide who speaks English leads the route and tells you about the places, food and people we meet. The local team is trained in bike repairs, so you also have mechanical support on the road.

✔ A van follows the group, so it's there if you need a break. We also use it to skip big cities and busy stretches, so we can spend our time on the bike where it's most beautiful.

✔ A support truck carries luggage and bikes during transfers, and provides water and snacks along the way.
